The Snite Museum of Art is located on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, near South Bend, Indiana. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday; and Sundays 1 pm to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

The Snite Museum of Art, University of Notre Dame, provides opportunities to enjoy, respond to, learn from, and be inspired by original works of art. This is predicated on the belief that works of art enhance aesthetic sensitivity and broaden understanding of world cultures.

      The 19th-century Italian artist's murals and other paintings are central to the aesthetic character of both those buildings.
      
      But Gregori also left his mark on a third Notre Dame landmark, Washington Hall -- a legacy that was erased during mid-20th-century updates. Collapse

      This exhibit features a number of little-known treasures from the revolutionary era housed at Notre Dame. It is a must-see for anyone interested in the relations between art and politics during the French Rev., or any period. Especially interesting are the domestic images of women and children, by famous artists such as David and Vigée-Lebrun. The exhibit is linked to the bilingual colloquium (open to the public) sponsored by IUSB and ND on revolutionary studies which will bring scholars from around the world to South Bend on October 6-7, 2008. See website: http://www.nd.edu/~colloque/index.html. High school teachers and students are especially urged to attend. The exhibit is a wonderful resource and should facilitate interdisciplinary study of art, politics, and literature around our region. Thank you Snite Museum! Collapse

      This exhibit of the work of the women of TGP is a powerful mix of history, art, and women's sensibility. Like many of the works in this exhibit, the piece, "Derecho A Alimentarese"/"The Right to Feed Oneself" by African-American TGP artist Elizabeth Catlett (who lived in Mexico for 30 years) has a stunning luminosity. This beautiful, powerful exhibit is not to be missed. Collapse
