We are a group of professional and emerging sculptors, potters, and jewelers sharing a single, well-equipped studio and helping each other. The sculpture is figurative,animals, and abstract; we create small pieces you can hold in the palm of your hand to monumental sculptures eleven feet high. The pottery is functional and sculptural. The jewelry is made of silver, gold wire, copper, and precious stones. The showroom is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM and Saturdays from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM, or by appointment (574) 282-ARTS (2787). ASK FOR A TOUR Behind the showroom is an amazing hive of activity, the Fire Arts Studios. This is where the artists are busy creating original, personal art or working on commissions. What Fire Arts Offers the Public Mini-workshops are offered occasionally which are an introduction to differing 3D arts for a nominal fee. We have a SHOWROOM full of unique, beautiful artwork to look at and/or buy. Our artists are available to for unique, commissioned artwork for you or your company. You can commission gifts, awards, garden art, pottery, jewelry, sculpture (including portraits),or public art. Remember to allow plenty of time for the project; it can never be too early to discuss your idea, but it is possible for you to call too late. The more time an artist has to work on the creation, the better the artwork will be. We can REPAIR artwork for you. Our artists have repaired a Madonna,jewelry, cast a matching ormolu for a piece of antique furniture, replaced a head on a granite Civil War monument, carved a wood ornament to match a missing piece, and more.       If you play guitar, especially acoustic, you'll love this guy's playing. He makes the complex look easy and it's so obvious he has a true love of the guitar. I see that he is playing in the area on Friday and Sunday. I'm going to try and attend both shows! I saw him last year and I'm going make sure I take in at least one of these concerts this year.       I have participated in five workshops with Richard Gilewitz. Each time I have come away feeling renewed and excited as I improved my fingerstyle guitar skills. He has a great way of helping each individual improve upon their techniques and approach in a relaxed atmosphere. It is great that he is offering a workshop in South Bend, because I usually have to travel to Ohio or Florida for this opportunity. Collapse

      Actually, I'm not kidding about this title. I traveled to Ohio to attend GillaCamp in August of '08. I arrived as a guitarist fraught with poor technique who stumbled through decades without a plan for improvement and left energized and excited about a new journey in music. There was no instantaneous transformation into a virtuoso. It'd be stupid to suggest that as a possibility. There was measurable improvement in my playing and most importantly in my attitude. Gilewitz managed to make everyone feel comfortable as he guided us through several exercises that directly targeted the development of proper left and right hand techniques, rhythm and timing, music theory and self-expression. I was the "beginner" in the room which included players of varying levels of skills and he managed to tailor his teaching to the individuals present. We all left having gotten our "money's worth", which is important when you're plopping down some of your "hard earned" cash. Go,have fun. I'll be there. Collapse

      I've seen Gilewitz in concert four times in the past year and it's still not enough. I'm gonna attend both his Michiana shows even though they're only a day apart. From the perspective of a guitarist, I learn so much as I watch him play with the added bonus of being thoroughly entertained and amazed. It doesn't hurt to have the opportunity to laugh uncontrollably. Collapse
