    Since its inception in 1957, South Bend Civic Theatre has produced a diverse array of high quality theatrical performances, ranging from musicals and classics to contemporary and modern works. In its mission to be a model community theatre, South Bend Civic Theatre has provided the best of local talent onstage and backstage for audiences young and old to enjoy. In 2007, the former Scottish Rite building become South Bend Civic Theatre’s permanent home, featuring a 209 seat Main Stage Auditorium and a 80 seat versatile “black-box” Studio Theatre. In addition, South Bend Civic Theatre presents programming at other local venues in the area, including the Firehouse Theatre on Portage Avenue (its former primary stage), in order to bring theatre to more regional audiences. South Bend Civic Theatre also is committed to theatre education and offers numerous classes, summer camps, and Kids4Kids performances that allow children to experience making theatre firsthand.
