The Bethel College Operatic Irregulars are definitely exploring the obscure, miniature side of chamber opera this Fall Semester. The work is "Pimpinone, or the Unequal Marriage--a comic intermezzo." The composer was the incredibly prolific Georg Fhilipp Telemann, who in his own day owned a reputation higher than that of his friend Johann Sebastian Bach. "Pimpinone" has a cast of just two singers, and plays out in one hour. Come find out what made Telemann the most popular composer in Germany during the early 1700s.
