The name Blackwood Brothers is synonymous with Gospel music. Their music has been heard around the world on radio, recordings, and television. The Blackwood Brothers have recorded over 200 albums, toured in 47 countries, have won 8 Grammy Awards, 6 Dove Awards and were inducted into the Gospel Hall of Fame in Nashville, TN in 1998.

In 1950 in Dayton, OH Captain Kolb founded a quartet and named them the Gospel Mariners. WHIO TV picked up the program which was presented as though it originated on board a ship, consisted of three or four songs by the quartet and a short message from the Captain. Through out the years they appeared on many TV stations and in 2003, after 40 years, the original full time quartet members felt the Lord calling them back into His service.
