El crimen de Padre Amaro has the highest box office in the history of Mexican cinema due largely to its controversial themes. In the film, a recently ordained, 24-year-old priest is sent to the small parish of Los Reyes to help Padre Benito in his daily activities. The corruption of local officials and of Padre Benito, plus the allure of the young and attractive Amelia create a difficult situation for the young man of God. This is the final film in the Bethel College Mexican Film Festival. Assistant Professor of Spanish, Dr. Scott DeVries will introduce the film and moderate a brief discussion after the screening. In Spanish with English subtitles.
