Add Review/Comment
Filmmaker, Danielle Beverly, will show excerpts from "Learning to Swallow" and "Project Rebirth" and present on documenting trauma, gaining the trust of your subjects in this genre, and perseverance in documenting trauma overtime. She will also touch upon finding humor in the face of tragedy, as well as women and creating documentaries. In her 2005 film, "Learning to Swallow", Beverly deals with a young woman trying to rebuild her life after a failed suicide attempt destroyed her digestive system. "Project Rebirth", produced and directed by Jim Whitaker, is about the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center. Beverly is the film's field producer. The film features both the lives of nine people affected by the attacks and a 35 mm time lapsed film on the rebuilding of the Center. It will officially premier in 2010 and be a part of the National September 11th Memorial Museum. Beverly began her career in Chicago's PBS affiliate WTTW and since then, has worked for PBS in San Francisco and New York. She freelances as a camera person and has worked on documentaries such as such as Tami Yeager's "A Dream in Doubt" (ITVS' Independent Lens series, 2008) and Shannon O'Rourke's "Maybe Baby" (SXSW, 2007).
