Add Review/CommentThe spring theatre production will feature a translation of the 1673 Molliere classic, The Imaginary Invalid. The new translation, by Nagle Jackson, depicts a wealthy hypochondriac under the care of numerous physicians in the business of keeping their patients ill. When the “invalid” tries to bring a physician into family through marriage, the family rebels and launches a counter scheme. Originally presented for French King Louis XIV, The Imaginary Invalid was Molliere’s final work and was a satire on medical professionals who practice their art without ethics. Molliere, who starred in the production, fell ill during the performance and died shortly after the performance. Nagle Jackson has translated and written numerous plays and has served as the artistic director at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater and the McCarter Theater in Princeton.
