The Fantasticks opened in 1960 and by the time the curtain was brought down in 2002, had played 17,162 performances thus becoming the longest running musical in U.S. history. The Fantasticks is an enchanting, unforgettable musical comdey about two young lovers who try and hide their love from their feuding fathers who are actually best friends. Knowing that children often go against their parents wishes, they are only pretending to be feuding to get their children together. The meddling fathers go to great lengths, but when the children learn of their scheme they go off on their own to learn about love and the realities of a cruel world before they eventually return to each other. This enduring love story includes classic songs such as "Try To Remember," and "Soon It's Gonna Rain." The Wall Street Journal called The Fantasticks "The Perfect Musical" upon its revival in 2006.
