New World Arts is proud to present Ray Bradbury’s futuristic thriller Fahrenheit 451.

Fahrenheit 451 presents a future where all books have been banned, critical thought is outlawed, and information is devoid of context. The show’s famous and cryptic title refers to the temperature at which books catch fire. An allegorical warning against “factoid” culture, F451 is now more relevant than ever. Don’t miss New World Arts’ explosive take on Bradbury’s searing American classic.

Director Aaron Nichols says this about New World Arts production. “Our Fahrenheit 451 is more than a dystopian rant against censorship. It is an adventure of self-discovery and a wake-up call to any society numbed by over stimulation. As the Internet, iPods, and scores of other media distract and isolate us, Bradbury’s world of TV parlors and ear radios is alarmingly prescient.”

"We chose Fahrenheit 451 to represent love of knowledge in our season exploring love in all its facets," says Artistic Director Laura Gouin. "In the world of this play, knowledge is outlawed, books are burned, and instead of human interaction, people are distracted and deadened by reality tv. In our current world where reality tv takes the place of family time at the dinner table, I wonder just what sort of world we're creating."

New World Arts is partnering with Better World Books in Goshen, a not for profit bookstore that sells new and used books to fund literacy worldwide. Donate your gently used books by bringing them to Fahrenheit 451. Drop them off at the Better World Books’ table at the show and receive a discount on book purchases made that night.

Dinner Theatre options are available with Kelly Jae’s Café on Friday and Saturday performances for $30 per person which includes admission to the show and a special four course menu. Kelly Jae's Cafe, located in the heart of historic downtown Goshen's shopping district, offers an eclectic menu featuring a Spanish tapas concept with an Asian flair. The menu is complemented by a full bar of liquor, beer and wine.
