Add Review/CommentThe Snite Museum of Art and the Department of Art, Art History, and Design announce a lecture by Chip Kidd on Thursday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. Chip Kidd is an author, editor, and graphic designer who is best known for his original book covers. He is currently associate art director at Knopf, a division of Random House, where he designs on average 75 book covers a year. Publishers Weekly has said that his book covers are “creepy, striking, sly, smart, unpredictable covers that make readers appreciate books as objects of art as well as literature." In addition to designing the covers of books, he has also written two novels: The Cheese Monkey (2001) and The Learners (2008) which both draw from his experiences as an art student at Penn State University. In addition to the lecture that will focus on design, Mr. Kidd will also be meeting with students of The University of Notre Dame who are studying design. He will critique their work and portfolios which is an excellent opportunity for the students to receive expert advice from one of the world’s leading graphic designers. The event is free and open to the public.
