Watercolors, oils and acrylics are the mediums in the latest works by Clare Hoinville and Diane Corbett. The warmth of the colors and imagery will take you back to a familiar place in time. Clare Hoinville lives in Niles, Michigan and many of her paintings reflect local scenes as well as portraits and still lives. Her paintings are an authentic personal reaction to appreciate and understand each image and are painted “from life”. Clare studied at Western Michigan University, Notre Dame and was awarded an art fellowship to Skidmore College. Diane Corbett was a Navy Junior when she married and started raising her 4 children. She traveled extensively with her family. She was educated at the University of Southern California and at the University of Notre Dame. She is influenced by the California Impressionists and Wolf Kahn, Richard Schmid and M.B. Abbott. “I was born on the East Coast, and brought up on the West Coast. Much of my work comes from memory and always tells a story. All of my paintings tell stories, even if it’s a peach talking to a plum.” Diane Corbett and Clare Hoinville met at a Notre Dame workshop and have often painted together. Join us on December 9, Sunday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. for an artist reception. Diane and Clare will be present to talk about their art. Refreshments will be served.
