What began as a 1999 Millennium bash is now an Amish Acres' tradition. Indiana's most unique New Year's Eve celebration takes place at Amish Acres in Nappanee. The tenth annual celebration continues in its 2008 edition. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with Amish Acres famous family style Threshers Dinner in the festive old barn restaurant. Anticipation mounts as The Round Barn Theatre doors open on the final performance of A Wonderful Life. Following bows patrons return to the dining room that has been transformed into a buffet of finger food treats, champaigne punch, chocolate confections, and other pre-New Years Resolution indulgences. Back in theatre seats at 11:00 p.m. the cast of A Wonderful Life is transformed into a cabaret lounge act with the orchestra on stage. The audience is treated to an hour of delectable music and gaiety as the anticipation of the final countdown to 2009 approaches. To strains of Auld Lang Syne the revelers rise as one and welcome the beginning of the new year. With buttoned up overcoats an exodus leads to the scene of glittering and booming fireworks that awakens the sleeping town of Nappanee (they get up early and go to bed early even on New Year's Eve.)
