The ballet follows the same general story line as the original but with a uniquely different twist. The magical updated version portrays Klara as a homeless orphan girl who discovers the true meaning of the season: “that it is not important to give something material, but to give what is in your heart and soul.” Following her journey through a magical Kingdom which includes dancers from Africa, China, Mexico, America, Turkey, and France, Klara is adopted by the Sugar Plum Fairy and Nutcracker Prince and her life becomes complete.

Performers inlcude the Conservatory of Dance Company, the Conservatory of Dance Studio students, and the Elkhart Community School System outreach School Dance Education students as well as dancers from the Elkhart area.
