Katie O’Connell, who graduated from Notre Dame’s American Studies program in 1991, is currently the Senior Vice President of Drama Development at NBC Entertainment in Los Angeles. She guided the pilot development and launch of freshmen series Chuck, Life, Bionic Woman, and Journeyman, and she is currently overseeing a slate of sixty potential drama projects and working with prominent writers and directors including Barry Sonnenfeld, Tom Fontana, and Dick Wolf. Ms. O’Connell was previously at Imagine Television, where she developed numerous comedy and drama projects, including the Emmy Award-winning shows Arrested Development and 24. In her talk, Ms. O’Connell will show clips from shows that she has developed and discuss the process of turning a program from a pilot idea into a television series.
