Hoosier Salon Travels to Heartland Artists Gallery. Hoosier Salon is a juried art exhibit on tour from Indianapolis. Artists must live or have lived in Indiana to be eligible for this exhibit. The Annual exhibit is featured at the Indiana State Museum from July 16 thru September 14. The rich heritage of the Hoosier Salon began in 1925 when the "Daughters of Indiana" opened the doors to the first exhibition at Marshall Fields and Company Galleries in Chicago. The high quality of art was applauded by critics and the public alike. In 1942 the annual exhibit moved from Chicago to downtown Indianapolis and is now annually housed at the Indiana State Museum. The travelling tour is at select Indiana galleries from September 19 thru January 31, 2009. Heartland Artists Gallery is fortunate to be one of the first stops on the Hoosier Salon travelling tour.
