This exhibition surveys work by some of the most important women artists associated with the Taller de Grafica Popular (TGP) along with works by several of their male counterparts who created compositions focusing on the roles of post-revolution Mexican women. The TGP was an important group of Mexican printmakers active between 1937 and 1953. They created, in poster form, an art designed for public display and mass distribution, with the goal of stimulating Mexican political and social reform. The time in which these women worked was a period of immense political change and a time also marked by rich artistic activity. These women and their male colleagues worked in a variety of styles and media, often collaborating on projects. The Women of the Taller de Grafica Popular exhibition will feature 36 images created by women that depict Mexican women caught in the post-revolution struggles.
