Clifford & Michaels are the featured performers at the season opener of TGIF: Music in the Gardens. The event is co-hosted by the Northern Indiana Center for History and 88.1 WVPE Public Radio. Rick Clifford is a songwriter who started his music career at an early age. As a single act, he performed throughout the Florida music scene. In 1984, he formed his first rock band in South Bend with a group named Lake Effect, known for their blues and rock. Rick’s songs led the band into backing many popular bands touring the Midwest area. Rick’s unique guitar leads has helped build his reputation around the area as one of the premier guitarists in the Midwest. Joe Michaels is a singer/songwriter who started playing bass guitar with the Lake Effect Band in 1984. His style of playing helped deep root the backbeat of the band. After years of playing rock and blues, Joe decided to change his style as well as instruments and began a career with playing in country bands in the Midwest. He has gone on to do single shows around the area. Joe’s energetic and strong stage presence continues to captivate his audience. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food and beverages will be sold. No carry-in foods or beverages are permitted. The event will be held rain or shine. Corporate table packages may be purchased by calling the Center for History. The lush grounds of Copshaholm provide a perfect setting for TGIF: Music in the Gardens. Copshaholm is the 1896 home built for industrialist J. D. Oliver and his family. The mansion’s surrounding 2 ½ acres of gardens, in full bloom at this time of year, offer a fragrant backdrop to the evening of music.
