Umphrey's McGee
March 17, 2007
Add Review/CommentUmphrey's McGee jam band members met at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend in the mid-1990s and won a large following in the area. The band edges toward the Frank Zappa side of the improve rock scale. As band members graduated, the group instated a more and more rigorous rehearsal schedule. The band now operates out of Chicago half the year and tours the other half of the year. Nightly audiences are knocked out by their easygoing on-stage rapport and the humor with which they juggle everything from gypsy jazz and metal riffs to the most delicate classical runs. Just a few months after the band's first gig in 1998, the band released their own CD, “Greatest Hits Volume III.” Live recorded “Songs for Older Women” and “One Fat Sucka” followed. The band’s released its third studio album, “Safety in Numbers” in 2006. Band members include vocalists Brendan and Jake Cinninger playing guitar, vocalist Joel Cummins on keyboards, percussionist Andy Farag, vocalist Kris Myers on drums. and Ryan Stasik playing bass.
