    The 49th Annual University of Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival, the oldest college jazz festival, will be held on February 23rd and 24th, 2007, at the University of Notre Dame. 12 College Jazz Bands will perform while being judged by 5 highly acclaimed jazz artists. This year's judges are Jon Faddis, trumpet; James Carter, sax; Joan Hickey, piano; Rodney Whitaker, bass; and Carl Allen, drums. One of the hallmarks of the Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival is its noncompetitive status, focusing on learning and not rankings. The judges will select outstanding musicians from each performing group, and provide a feedback session for each group immediately after it performs. Clinics by all the judges - with musical performances and a question and answer session – are open to all the performers and interested fans.

        Tickets: Students at Notre Dame/St. Mary's/Holy Cross are admitted free of charge, but must obtain tickets. For the general public: Tickets are $5/night or $7/both nights for the Friday night and Saturday night Festival concert sessions. All other CJF events are free of charge, including the Saturday afternoon Jazz Clinic with the Judges, and do not require tickets. We recommend getting tickets in advance. The Friday and Saturday night Festival events at Washington Hall are often "sold out" with no tickets remaining at the door. Tickets are available at the LaFortune Box Office and at the door if available. We are pleased to announce that you will be able to reserve tickets over the phone by credit card for this year's festival. Call the LaFortune Box Office at (574) 631-8128. The box office is open daily from 9:00 in the morning to 1:00 a.m. at night.
