Bursting with song, The Will Rogers Follies is a musical based on the life of Will Rogers, popular humorist and performer. Rogers began as a lasso rope twirler in Wild West Shows and became popular for his quips that followed his failed rope tricks. As a humorist, he became one of the most quoted American's of all time. In the musical, Will's life is viewed through the (opulent) lens of the Ziegfeld Follies, which he often headlined in his heyday, and is somewhat nonlinear and very unconventional in structure, since every episode in his life is a production number. The Will Rogers Follies won six Tony awards including Best Musical in 1991.
