Back by popular demand, this one-woman depiction of the inner life and poetry of Emily Dickinson, one of this country’s most beloved—and famously reclusive—poets, was first presented by SBCT in 1998. Come visit with Emily in her 19th Century Massachusetts home in Civic’s new Barbara K. Warner Studio Theatre.

      I thought the actress did an excellent job. I liked the way the character portrayed Emile Dickinson's life experiences, humorous thoughts and poems. I thought the performance fell short in two major... Expand

      I thought the actress did an excellent job. I liked the way the character portrayed Emile Dickinson's life experiences, humorous thoughts and poems. I thought the performance fell short in two major categories. The lighting was poorly applied, it could have had a more dramatic effect with a lot less lighting and what was the director thinking? Dramatic pauses would have been greatly appreciated and likely provided a more memorable experience. Did you notice how many of the men in the audience were sleeping? I looked around and thought what else would you expect? The apparent non-stop chatter of the performer. Most guys tend to tune-out after a while and we sat through approximately two hours of constant talking. I believe some dramatic pauses would have been much more effective. Although, the other guys in the audience might wish I would keep my thoughts to myself. A good 30 minute nap goes a long way when she just won't stop talking (not even for 10 seconds). Collapse
