Honoring the life and contributions of one of America’s most important playwrights, Civic is proud to present this winner of the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. In 1957, Troy, a former Negro League baseball player who was too old for the major leagues by the time they were finally integrated, now toils as a garbage collector, struggling to hold on to his pride and his family.
