A solo exhibition and sale by artist Viki Anderson will feature “Scenes from Culver and Lake Maxinkuckee” from August 3rd through the 31st at the Heartland Artists Gallery in Plymouth, Indiana. An artist reception will be held at the gallery on Sunday, August 13 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. The public is welcomed to attend. The exhibition will contain over 30 oil and pastel paintings depicting everyday life and scenes in the town of Culver, the Culver Academies and Lake Maxinkuckee. The colorful paintings are a combination of plein air (open air) along with her studio work. Anderson especially enjoys working in the open air capturing sunrises and sunsets around the lake. “The colors are always so vibrant around the lake, with each sunrise and sunset being so distinct. I also truly enjoy painting the different weather formations which can drastically change the color of the lake. An approaching storm can quickly turn the phathlo blue water into a green and black abyss.” After the close of the show at the Heartland Artists Gallery the paintings will be on display at the Culver Coffee Company from September 1st through October 15th. “Culver is a special place; my home away from home. I’ve been coming to my husband’s family cottage for more than twenty years. The people, the town, the Academies and especially the lake, have always been a source of great inspiration.” Viki Anderson is also a video producer and a creative developer by professional trade and loves the challenge of capturing “motion and mood” onto the canvas. She is a member of the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association as well as the Hoosier Salon.
