Susan Ring of North Manchester doesn't have to go far to find subjects to paint. She has several flower gardens and a water garden in her backyard and she works at a school so she has no shortage of subjects for her wonderful portraits of children. Susan attended John Herron School of Art in Indianapolis and finds inspiration everywhere. Her love of painting, which was sparked in college, was rekindled 7 years ago when she began painting in watercolors. Just recently she has begun work in oils. She paints both from photographs and "plein aire." She has exhibited paintings at the Honeywell Center Nine County Art Show, Lakeland Art Show (Warsaw), Heartland Artists Fall Show and the Brass Latch Art Show in Montpelier. Her paintings at Heartland Artists Gallery, 321 N. Water St. will be on display throughout the month of July. The gallery hours are Thursday through Saturday from Noon to 4 p.m.
