Barbara Miller Meeker - Solo Show
June 1-June 30, 2006
Add Review/CommentThe Heartland Artist's Gallery is pleased to present an exhibit of works by nationally recognized artist Barbara Miller Meeker. Meeker has been an artist for over 50 years. The majority of her work is in acrylics and watercolors. She describes her style as “Abstracted Realism”, interpreting what she has seen in her lifetime into her work. Meeker is a graduate of DePauw University and has further advanced study with over 20 nationally and internationally recognized artists. She worked as an Associate Professor at Purdue University Calumet, beginning in 1965, and was the only female professor who taught drawing at the Department of Architectural Technology for many years. Among her many awards, earned from such notable shows as the Midwest Watercolor Society, Hoosier Salon and Art Comp, her work “Lily” was chosen for the National Easter Seal in 1993. She is featured in numerous publications, such as the documentary by Brian Kallies called “Art of Steel”, “American Artists” magazine, “Who’s Who in American Art” and “Women Artists in America”. Her work is included in several collections, including those of Governor Otis Bowen, Indianapolis and Hammond Public Schools and several Northwest Indiana hospitals.
