Set in New York City, it deals with Nathan Detroit who is always looking for a place to run a gambling game, much to the consternation of his longtime fiancee, Adelaide. He bets Sky Masterson that Sky can't get Sarah Brown, of the faltering Save-a-Soul Mission, to fly with him to Havana, but Sky does it. The two fall in love until Sarah discovers that the gamblers used the mission while she and Sky were away. She then refuses to have anything to do with him until he finally wins her over, bringing the show to a happy ending.
